What happens on the free discovery call?

It's a relaxed 20-minute video chat — no forms, no pressure. You tell me a little about your child and what's been going on, I'll share how I might be able to help, and we'll decide together whether it feels like a good fit. If it's not the right match, I'll happily point you towards someone who might be.

Question 2

How long is a typical session and how often do we meet?

Sessions are 50 minutes. Most families come weekly to begin with — consistency matters when we're building trust with a child — and we can space things out as confidence grows. Parent-only coaching sessions can be more flexible.

Question 3

Are sessions online or in person?

Accepted Answer

Parent coaching is offered online via secure video, which works beautifully and saves you the school-run juggle. Direct play-based sessions with younger children are in-person where possible. We can discuss the best fit on the discovery call.

Question 4

Do I need a diagnosis before we start?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Many families come to me long before they're on a HSE or CDNT waiting list. Whether your child has a formal diagnosis, is awaiting assessment, or you're simply noticing your gut telling you something — you're welcome here.

Question 5

Will my child come to the first session?

Usually not. The first session is just for parents — a chance to share your story properly without small ears listening. From there we plan together when (and how) to involve your child.

How should I prepare?

You don't need to. Come as you are. If it helps, jot down two or three things that are weighing on you — but a blank page is also completely fine. There's no script.

What does it cost?

The discovery call is free. Fees for follow-up sessions are discussed transparently on that call, and concession rates are available for families in financial hardship — please just ask.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Everything you share with me stays between us, with the limited legal exceptions all therapists have (e.g. risk of harm to a child). I'll talk you through this properly at the start.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens — especially with little ones. As long as I have 24 hours' notice, there's no charge. Late cancellations may incur the full session fee, but we'll always handle this kindly.

Who is this for — and who is it not for?

This is for parents of children (typically 3–12) who are struggling with big feelings, feeling anxious, meltdowns, neurodivergence, or transitions, and for the parents themselves. It's not a crisis service — if you or your child are in immediate danger, please contact your GP, ED, or call 112.

How does this fit alongside HSE / CDNT / school?

I work alongside (never instead of) statutory services. Many of my families are on long HSE or CDNT waiting lists — I can offer something now while they wait, and liaise with schools or SENOs where helpful.

What if I don't know if my child needs this?

That's exactly what the free discovery call is for. Most parents I speak to start with 'I'm probably overreacting…' Spoiler: you're almost never overreacting. Let's just have a chat.
